On tour Bournemouth, all wearing a No12 shirt, came up against a Newbury side drawn from across the squad. In the first half the powerful visitors attacked Newbury but tenacious tackling by Newbury and a good team spirit limited Bournemouth to a 0-7 lead at half-time.
The second half witnessed a Newbury revival, with Charlie Tillett making sniping runs and Charles Forson showing up well in the loose. Quick tap penalties and lineouts kept Newbury going forward and with the final whistle looming Bournemouth cleared down field. Josh Lawrence took the ball and flew back at the Bournemouth to score in the corner. The whistle blew as Theo Brophy Clews slotted the conversion, 7-7 the final score.
