This page is dedicated to fans who have taken their shirt on tour. Please email mail us (professional@newburyrfc.co.uk) a picture of you in your Newbury shirt at locations around the world with a short description of where you are and why you where there. The best will get a prize.
Further to my fabulous holiday to Dubai last week where I was visiting friends, I got my picture taken in front of the Burj Al Arab in my Blues shirt on Friday 12th March 2010. This impressive landmark is a five star hotel and is unofficially known as the worlds only seven star hotel, which is built on an artificial island, with a sail-shaped build reaching out at 321m. I was hoping it would bring some luck to the Blues and that they would sail away with a win at Cinderford the following day!
October 25th 2009. Trevor Coles. FC Digoin Rugby, France. I was invited as guest for the day by the coach, Patrick Pages. 10.00am players arrive and then go through moves on the pitch from 10.30 to 11.30 with me as one of the ball boys (in French style I get a handshake from every one of the squad). 11.45 pasta and turkey lunch with the squad. 1.30 2nd team KO, 3.00 1st team KO. Posh togs for match and sponsors tent booze up after Digoin’s 10 - 0 defeat! Photo, Physio/my Chauffer Raymond, me and coach Patrick Pages in players tunnel.
This is Chris Coles posing with some French ‘Rosbifs’. The location is St Christophe-en-Brionnais, a sleepy village in southern Burgundy that is the premier European market for Charollais cattle. On Wednesdays only it is transformed by an invasion of farmers and hundreds of cattle. Just like Newbury many years ago !!!
In this picture on the right is Ben Pritchard the Newbury U17s No.8 (this coming season).
He presented a Newbury shirt to Bitter Pepie on the left. Both boys were playing for the World famous Maties Academy from Stellenbosch South Africa in the NS Royal 7s in Malaysia in July.
The picture shows Bitter wearing the Newbury shirt in Malaysia.
After the match Alan Rolland(ref), Alan Lewis (touch) and Nigel ? TMO (who has just ‘come out’) all came down to the pub . Alan Lewis was very amicable and smoked and drank Guinnness all night. England lost.
